SUMMER.....

This is a photo I took at the recent "Bullmania" event I attended this weekend....

This summer, I have taken my children to two rodeo events. The first one - well it was our first real one ever. Both were a lot of fun, very exciting, and I have never seen so much horse equipment in my life!! I would have to say the same about the poor broken cowboys. I don't believe I have ever seen that many beat up people all gathered in the same place before. While the show was mostly entertaining, there were a couple of times I found myself gripping the bottom of my chair in complete anxiety. The first time, one of the bullfighters got mangled and knocked out by a bull, and the second time, a cowboy got thrown off his bull, trampled by it, and knocked around some more. He lie there, perfectly still on the ground, for far too long. I honestly thought he was dead. That - was distressing to me, not entertaining.
On the ride home, I found myself wondering why these boys do this kind of thing. I guess it's mostly for the money, but I can't believe anyone would find risking your life for a few bucks to be a good thing. I mean, we all want money, but I don't want it bad enough to put my life in jeopardy. I'd still rather be poor - and just alive!
